Our Mission

Our commitment, our passion and why we do what we do.

Northwest Academy for the Healing Arts is dedicated to the personal growth, educational experience, and professional achievement of our massage therapy students and graduates. Our mission is to educate students in the practice of science-based massage therapy and bodywork. We are passionate about helping people and we believe professional massage therapists can be a critical part of the healing process. We are committed to training and supporting excellent practitioners.

How We Started

We began as a small school, then expanded to three campuses in the Puget Sound.

Northwest Academy for the Healing Arts, LLC was originally formed as a continuing education institution for alternative health care practitioners. It was our goal to provide quality advanced education to massage therapists, acupuncturists, and naturopathic physicians. However, we soon realized that outstanding massage practitioners must be built from the foundation up. Therefore, we decided that we needed to develop a massage program that maintained a higher standard of instruction and curriculum development to assure the credibility of the massage profession.

We began our massage school in West Seattle in 2006. We focused our curriculum on clinical massage treatment, by starting with a strong basis in anatomy and kinesiology and then adding in a thorough exploration of conditions and treatments. As our West Seattle campus grew and expanded, we began to attract students from further parts of the Puget Sound. Given the interest and passion for massage we were seeing, we added a campus in Bellingham and soon after that in Tacoma, allowing us to better serve the greater Puget Sound region.
